It came to me as part of a collection that included embroidery and knitting charts from the 1840's- 1870's along with some beautifully hand drawn whitework embroidery designs from 1810's- 1830's and a draft of poetry

The jacquard weave of the ribbon adds a three dimensional, almost embroidered effect to the ribbon. The ribbon measures 40 mm 1. 6 inches deep . It is sold by the meter in a continuous piece. These ribbons are woven at a few meters per hour on the same jacquard looms in Germany since 1898. Many of the designs are traditional although there are some modern designs to be found
