Masterpieces of the Ota Memorial Museum of Art Janwillem van de Wetering Charles Scribner II sold hisThe Ota Memorial Museum of Art opened in Harajuku in January 1980 as a museum specializing in ukiyo e (Japanese woodblock prints). We hold monthly exhibitions drawn from our 12,000 piece collection. Most of the objects were collected enthusiastically by the late Seizo Ota V (1893 1977) over approximately half a century beginning in the late Taisho period (1912 1926). The collection is known not only for its size but also the broad array of works such
