The mouthpiece is partly twisted and has a narrow central port. There are circular steel discs inside the cheeks at each end of the mouthpieceThe cheeks are curved. There are areas of brass on the outside of the cheeks where the ends of the mouthpiece emerge. Possibly there were once decorative badges or bosses at these points. The bit has its original
