It allows a filter designed for the NiSi Swift System (same filter thread size) to be used directly on the lens without the NiSi True Color 1 5 Stops VND. The Swift System filters attach to the adaptor ring simply by pressing them onto the front of the adaptor. The ring is made of aluminum for durability.
