Like the Charmes this is not a big wine in the context of the appellation but it's refined and admirably pure

but on the palate this wine is utterly classic

With time in the glass the fruit turns darker and the wine puts on weight

Domaine de la Janasse, Chateauneuf du Pape, Chaupin 2014 OWC Like the Charmes this is93 Vinous Limpid ruby. Intense, highly perfumed blue fruit and floral pastille aromas are complemented by suggestions of allspice and licorice. Silky and focused on the palate, offering concentrated boysenberry and cherry flavors that take a darker turn as the wine opens up. Finishes impressively long, displaying lingering berry and floral nuances, gentle tannins and a touch of smoky minerals. (JR) 04 2016
