These screens were used by women to shield their face from the heat as they sat close to the fire in colder months. The fan is decorated with a scene of English Gothic ruins and framed with gilt scrollwork decoration. Mounted with a custom bracket that allows the fan to be hung on the wall. England, circa 1835. Condition: Some fading and light crazing to the shellac throughout.
