Three of those buildings--the capitols of Michigan

2008 Michigan Capitol Ornament Ornament this first of two volumesThe 2008 Michigan Capitol Ornament honors the distinguished career of capitol architect Elijah E. Myers. Born in Philadelphia, Myers moved to our state in 1872 upon receiving the commission to design Michigans new capitol. He lived in Detroit until his death in 1909. Throughout his long and illustrious career Myers designed five capitols more than any other architect. Three of those buildings the capitols of Michigan, Texas, and Colorado still stand.
